The Friends of City Churches have proved to be great friends of Master Carvers’ Association cooperating and accommodating many Grinling Gibbons Tercentenary events.
The February 2021 edition of Skyline, the magazine of Friends of City Churches edited by Judy Stephenson, gives an account of the WWII disruption caused to The Gibbons Reredos, its removal for safe storage and then return to St Mary Abchurch ( p.8 & 9 ). Thoroughly researched by Signe Hoffos an urban legend has been demystified.
